Clifford Meese
Vice Chair of Governors
Mr Meese has been a school governor since March 2022.
Mr Meese currently has one child who attends a school in the Trust.
Mr Meese would like to help our students by making sure they have the correct tools and learning skills available for them to succeed in their later school years so they have the best possible start in life.
In his personal life, Mr Meese is a Site Services Engineering Manager in the food industry for a company that supplies well-known brands to the major supermarket chains.

Liz Best
Community Governor
Miss Best has lived in Maltby since 2016 and now has 2 young children that attend school within the Trust. In her professional life Miss Best works within a Human Resources department for a global recycling company and often uses her professional skills to help support her role as a Governor. Miss Best has been a Governor since 2018 and her aim is to ensure all children in the community get the best education possible to give them a great start in life.

Kirsty Leahy
Community Governor
Ms Leahy has been in the role of Governor since 2016 for Maltby Lilly Hall Academy and 2021 for Maltby Manor Academy. Ms Leahy is passionate about the voice of the child being a golden thread throughout their educational journey and how keeping children safe in education is fundamental to this.

Andrea Nuttall
Community Governor
Miss Nuttall is an experienced educational professional with a track record of improving academic and personal outcomes for children. Both her children have attended MLT primary schools and are currently enroled in Maltby Academy. Miss Nuttall is committed to vision of the Trust and the community it serves. Miss Nuttall has a strong commitment to ensure all children receive a high-quality education. She will endeavour to utilise her skill set to provide challenge and support in order to make quality education a priority for all students in MLT. In her spare time, Miss Nuttall is a dedicated volunteer at a local animal rescue centre.

Sara Graham
Community Governor
Sara has been a Governor in primary settings for more than 20 years and is currently SEND Governor for Maltby Manor and Maltby Lilly Hall Academies. She has extensive experience of safeguarding, working as Director of Safeguarding and Mental Health for Maltby Learning Trust but has also worked as the Designated Safeguarding Lead in two of the Trust secondary schools, as well as fulfilling this role in a voluntary sector organisation prior to joining the Trust in 2014. Sara quality assures safeguarding practice across the Trust, providing supervision for safeguarding colleagues, and works closely with both internal and external colleagues across the safeguarding partnership and local area to promote effective networking which facilitates information sharing and joined up practice.
As a trained Counsellor, Sara has worked with specialist colleagues and multi-agency partners for over 20 years to drive the development of mental health services for children and young people, as well as mental health and wellbeing across whole school communities, and sits on several local strategy and partnership groups. She worked with MLT's CEO to implement Rotherham MAST, an inhouse provision employing school mental health specialists, which secured a therapeutic offer for the Maltby Learning Trust community. Having working knowledge of SEND, Sara also contributes to the development of provision for children with social, emotional and mental health needs and whole-school trauma informed practices.
Sara is an experienced trainer having written and developed a range of bespoke evidence-based training packages. She is an accredited Youth Mental Health First Aid Instructor and is also working with Trauma Informed Schools UK as a trainer. Sara has been asked to speak at national level about a whole school approach to mental health and to contribute to new academic qualifications in this area. -
Claire Hannington
Parent Governor
Miss Hannington has lived in Maltby all of her life; receiving her own education in MLT schools. Miss Hannington has a young child who attends a school in the Trust.
Miss Hannington has been a Governor since March 2023.
In her professional life, Miss Hannington works as a Social Work Team Manager in a safeguarding children's service. She uses her professional background, experience, and skills, to support her role as Governor.
Miss Hannington is passionate about ensuring all children receive the best possible education and have the opportunities to fulfil their potential and beyond. -
Alice Denton
Staff Governor (Teacher)
After completing her BA Primary Education degree at Sheffield Hallam University, Miss Denton joined Maltby Lilly Hall Academy in 2015 as a Newly Qualified Teacher in Year 5. Since then, Miss Denton has taught across Key Stage 2 and is now the Lower Key Stage 2 Phase Leader. Miss Denton is passionate about ensuring all children have an exceptional education, that every child reaches their full potential and that they are fully prepared to be successful citizens in an ever-changing society.
Miss Denton was elected staff governor in 2018 and was then re-elected in 2022. Being a staff governor gives Miss Denton a holistic view of the school and allows her to play a part in improving the education of all students in a different manner compared to her day-to-day role as Teacher and Leader.

Rachel Claxton
Staff Governor (Associate Professional)
Mrs Claxton has worked at Maltby Lilly Hall Academy for almost 16 years. She also lives in the local area and has three, now grown up children, who all previously attended Maltby Lilly Hall Academy.
During her time at Maltby Lilly Hall Academy, Mrs Claxton has worked across many key stages as a teaching assistant and in later years, has now progressed to being a cover supervisor. Her role at the Academy has enabled her to enrich her knowledge of teaching strategies and gain a first hand knowledge of how the school operates on a day to day basis. Mrs Claxton believes that this enables her to offer valuable contributions and be well equipped to provide her knowledge and understanding from both staff and parents perspective.
Mrs Claxton is excited by her role as a Staff Governor as she feels it provides her with further opportunity to work alongside staff and other professionals, whilst striving to ensure children of Maltby Lilly Hall Academy receive an enriching, inspiring and varied curriculum in a warm and inviting environment.

Richard Pease
Principal
Principal at Maltby Lilly Hall Academy, Mr Pease was jointly responsible for improving the results profile of the school over a short period of time and was instrumental in moving Maltby Lilly Hall Academy from ‘Requires Improvement’ to ‘Good’ in 2021.
Formerly Vice-Principal of Maltby Redwood Academy, Mr Pease was an integral part of the leadership team which brought the school out of Special Measures to secure a ‘Good’ judgement in 2011.
As an outstanding teacher, he has a detailed and instinctive knowledge of teaching and learning and a proven ability to improve the practice of others.
He is recognised for his extensive knowledge of the curriculum and has worked across primaries in the Trust to raise attainment and progress, predominantly in Key Stage 2.
He is passionate about creating a culture where children and staff can flourish to the best of their ability – ensuring pupils are more than ready for the next phase of their education.

Sam Boon
Additional Governor
Mr Boon is an Assistant Principal at Maltby Academy having joined as a temporary teacher of ICT and Business in 2010. Mr Boon fulfilled several roles during this time including Director of Post 16, lead for careers, lead for high ability students, educational visits coordinator and line managing a range of curriculum areas.
Mr Boon is currently responsible for developing Curriculum Intent across Maltby Academy and links this with Trust primary school with a view to ensure the knowledge and systems designed allow students to thrive is of the highest quality. As part of this process, Mr Boon is striving to create links and clear understanding across all stakeholders about each curriculum phase from EYFS through to KS5.
Mr Boon is an experienced Governor, serving as staff representative for four years at Maltby Academy and as a primary Governor following this at both Maltby Manor Academy and Maltby Lilly Hall Academy. Mr Boon achieved a Masters in Teaching and Learning while working at Maltby Academy and is aspiring to be a Headteacher.

Robert Wordsworth
Additional Governor
Entering his eighth year working within Maltby Learning Trust, Mr Wordswrth has worked as a Cover Supervisor, Teacher of Student Achievement Leader and is now a Subject Leader of Computing and Business. During his time within the Trust, Mr Wordsworth has worked across two secondary schools. Mr Wordsworth qualified with a degree in Business Studies from the University of Lincoln and has subsequently gone on to teach IT, Computer Science, Business and Finance. Mr Wordsworth is looking forward to being involved with the Governance Committee and ensuring the best for all students within the Trust. In his spare time, Mr Wordsworth enjoys travelling, learning new things (currently Italian and the trumpet) and spending time with his family.
